âWhere there is no vision,â declared the wise writer of the book of Proverbs, âthe people perish.â How might we seek out those fixed points of vision that can be anchors for our journey, that can help us be on the trajectory God desires for our life together? How might we learn from this story of the three wise menâto listen to and honor the voices of even the least likely contributors, to look for and celebrate the work of God even in the most unlikely places? How might we be encouraged not to, like Herod, act out of fear and self-preservation, butâlike the Magiâbe willing to take a journey of any length for the sake of finding Godâs desired future?
